The National Indigenous Radio Service Limited (NIRS) is a national service provided from a hub station residing in Brisbane. It networks material for Indigenous media organisations that don't have the staffing or capital requirements to provide a 24-hour high quality broadcast to their audience.
NIRS supplies high quality entertainment and important information to all members who then retransmit the service when relevant. At one end of this scale the NIRS enables aspirant and remote area broadcasters to provide relevant Indigenous broadcasting 24-hours a day to their community, with the opportunity to "window"
The National Indiginous Radio Service provides 6DBY 97.9 fm with programs such as the Mary G show , on the Hour News ,Sporting Events and the best in music from around Australia.
6DBY provides content to the N.I.R.S network via Racheal Obah's 'Connections Show' ever Monday between 12 and 1 pm.
Troughout Australia Community Stations provide the N.I.R.S Network with a wide variety of program content which is then retransmitted by satelite right around Australia.
