Derby Media Aboriginal Corporation
commenced radio broadcasting on 1st March, 2003 on frequency
97.9fm. We currently broadcast live-to-air to the township of
Derby and nearby communities including Mowanjum from 6am - 7pm
Monday to Friday, and from 7am to 11am on Saturday mornings. In
the evenings and the weekends we transmit the National
Indigenous Radio Service. Current plans are to extend the
reception to Looma community, Ellendale diamond mining site and
the Koolan Island mining site.
In our short history we have gained credibility locally with a
survey revealing that 95% of the local population listen to
97.9FM at some stage during the week for local news, views,
music and events, with many admitting to being dedicated
Larrkardi Radio listeners. We have also won 3 national CBAA
awards to date.
